On Your Marks, Get Set, Go!

500 meter swim

12 mile bike ride

3.2 mile run to the finish!

All in just under 1 hour 30 min. Placing 11th in his division.

Three proud kids and a proud wife behind the camera!

Cris has been training for a Sprint Triathlon in Emmett, Id for the past few months. Early morning swims, bike rides and runs paid off as he successfully completed his first race. Next year, it is on to the Spudman. An Olympic Triathlon in Burley. It is twice as long.

Thankfully, the weather cleared for the few hours the race was held. And it was actually perfect. Not too hot, not too cold. We had strange weather last week with rain off and on all day Thurs, Fri, and for most of the drive there on Sat. Fri we had a high of 60 degrees. Quite the change from Wed high of 100. It was an inspiring event to watch as people of all ages and abilities participated. We saw a young man at age 10 compete and this young man at age 83. I'm pretty sure he won his age category.

Zach came home and immediately began his training for a neighborhood triathlon he plans to have in our neighborhood this week. Anyone, want to join us? We also found there is a kids race the Friday before the regular triathlon. The boys have the eyes on it for next year. I am grateful to have a husband who is active, stays in shape and is a good example to me and our kids. Great job and we are all looking forward to next year!

p.s. thanks for not drowning.

Upstairs at the Richardson Casa

These photos are for you Grandma Terri!! Better late than never. I will post more soon. There is also a bathroom and one more room upstairs which is my craft room/guest room. I LOVE having my own room. Most of the time the door is shut as there is usually a project going, it's a bit messy and I have to keep little hands away. I took pictures downstairs but accidentally changed the setting and they didn't turn out very good. But I will retake once I clean and remember to photograph in the 3 minutes it actually remains clean.

Bonus Room

This room is upstairs over the garage and is the room that made us really love the house. It is the kids play room and they love it. Especially in the winter when they play inside most of the time. There is nothing on the wall because they bounce balls off of the walls before shooting. The blinds have taken a beating but are still hanging. The ceiling fan on the other hand has seen better days. Somehow, Zach couldn't explain exactly how, the light fixture broke. It has two big closets and there is lots of good times in this room. It has a glass door so you can still see in and drown out the noise. In my mind I have some serious design plans for this room. But for now it is a fun place to play, shoot hoops, play video games, build forts and make BIG messes.

Boys room

The boys room turned out cute. I combined stuff from different rooms in our old house, added a rug, painted stripes, and added vinyl lettering of sports sayings. I like the way it turned out. Someday I will get around to painting their dresser black. Someday....

Sydney's Room

It is very similar to her room in Phoenix. I am looking for bedding for a twin size bed. Although who knows if she will sleep in it. Everynight she pulls her pillow and blanket to the floor.

Nothing like grocery shopping in your backyard

I picked tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, basil and oregano from our garden this morning. Add a few other spices, oil and honey and made a delicious truly homemade Tomato Cucumber Salad. Yum!

Grandpa Don helped us build garden beds when he came and visited last April. We followed the square foot method. We have grown spinach, lettuce, onions, carrots, tomatoes, peppers, green beans, cucumbers, basil, oregano, cilantro, and rosemary. We have learned a lot and will do a few things differently next year but have loved having fresh, homegrown, produce.

I'm the Mom of a Superstar!

Last night Cris and Alex went out and got all of his gear for football. Yeah - tackle football at age nine. Never too early to start is what they say. I really am excited for him and he is beyond excited. After they got home, he tried on his gear and they went outside to play catch. He came in with the biggest grin on his face and said, "Mom, I feel like a superstar." Indeed you are a SUPERSTAR Alex Henry Richardson in more ways than just football.

He starts practice(many practices) in two weeks and has a jamboree on Aug 29th. They get to play one quarter on the BSU blue turf. He is just a "little" excited about that.

Zach begins flag football in a few weeks too and has been getting ready as well. Syd has been brushing up on the lyrics to the BYU and ND fight songs. Needless to say, it's football season at the Richardsons.
